Cyberspace abuzz at Bossku having ‘distance cellmate’ in Isa Samad; who’s next guessing game starts

THEY may be about 65km apart from each other but the Federal Court’s surprising verdict of reinstating former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Tan Sri Isa Samad’s six-year jail term and RM15.45 mil fine for corruption yesterday (Feb 10) has elated detractors as disgraced former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak ‘need not feel lonely anymore’.

Having overturned a Court of Appeal decision that had previously acquitted him of all charges, the 76-year-old UMNO warlord was ordered to start his prison sentence with immediate effect at the Sungai Buloh Prison, effectively making him a ‘Bossku (Najib’s moniker) distance cellmate’.

“Oh good Najis [sic] got new neighbour. Another reason to celebrate,” screamed one cheeky commenter to a WORLD OF BUZZ’s Facebook post headlined “Tears in Court as Ex-UMNO Leader & Minister Isa Samad Sentenced to 6 Years Jail Over RM3 Million Bribe”.

While the duo is separated by distance, another reminded that “there’s Kajang-Sg Buloh MRT” to bridge that gap.

Even as some have forgotten that the Sungai Buloh and Kajang Prison are two distinct entities, the bottom line is that at the very least, “Jibby now has an old buddy as a companion”.

Elsewhere, netizens also poked fun at the “tears in court” description which they likened to “crocodile tears” and “play-acting” when family members “can spend more money while he (Isa) is in Sungai Buloh Resort”.

One commenter even jibed rightist UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh for not protesting against DAP (for presumably instigating the unfavourable verdict) at the Federal Court.

Another suggested that he would only do so “if someone suddenly declares this is another good reason to celebrate the lunar new year”.

Interestingly, Malay netizens tend to focus their attention on ‘who is next in line’ as evident from this Sinar Harian FB post which postulated that “the 77-year-old leader will celebrate Ramadan and Syawal in Sungai Buloh Prison”.

As Madani haters relish the prospect of “legendary” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim “clocking in for a third time”, many other names were thrown around depending on one’s political affiliation.

They include Bersatu president and former PM8 Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (despite his full acquittal), twice former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Sabah governor Tan Sri Musa Aman.

While one commenter expressed respect that the former FELDA chairman “need not use a wheelchair”, another remarked that Zahid who is also the UMNO president “could be watching silently😁”.

Others wondered “out of the six years and RM15.45 mil fine, how much discount would eventually be dished out” for Isa.

But the list of future jail companions for Bossku and Isa continue to steal the limelight – this time with Bossku’s spouse Datin Seri Rosnah Mansor, DAP advisor Lim Guan Eng, former UMNO warlord Tan Sri Annuar Musa and even the graft buster head honcho Tan Sri Azam Baki joining the fray.
