Perlis Bersatu secretary Azahar Hassan has announced his resignation from the party and all party positions, Bernama reported.
The report quoted Azahar as saying that the decision was made after “careful consideration and a review of current developments” but did not elaborate.
“I believe this decision is based on my principles, stance, and personal considerations in order to pursue the direction of a struggle that I believe in,” said Azahar, who is also a senator.
The resignation comes after Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hazmah announced his resignation from the Bersatu supreme council this morning, while remaining as a party member.
Abu Bakar said he is stepping down because he was unable to attend supreme council meetings and wanted to give his full commitment to serving Kangar Bersatu and Perlis Bersatu.
