Composer arrested for allegedly assaulting student over cigarette smoke

 Police say they are investigating the suspect, a foreign national, for criminal intimidation and causing hurt.

PETALING JAYA:

Police have arrested a composer in his late 30s, who is suspected of assaulting and threatening a local student at a residential area in Sungai Besi on July 11.

Cheras police chief Aidil Bolhassan said the victim in his mid-30s, who is a student at a private institution, was allegedly assaulted following a disagreement over cigarette smoke.

In a statement, Aidil said Cheras police raided an apartment at Razak City Residences at 1.51am on July 26 and arrested the suspect, who is a foreign national.

“The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.”

The suspect has been remanded until Aug 10. - FMT
