The Wawasan information chief says declining trust in the PH government has pushed voters towards the BN-PN alliance.
Wan Fayhsal said the results reflected support for the broader BN-PN alliance rather than a PAS-led “green wave”, arguing that a growing trust deficit in the Pakatan Harapan government had driven voters towards BN-PN.
“I believe it will be a real blue tsunami coming. I don’t think it is a green wave, but a blue wave,” he said in an interview with BFM today.
He said the cooperation between BN and PN in Negeri Sembilan had generated optimism among supporters of all races.
“They would like to see this collaboration become more concrete as GE16 approaches,” he said.
The BN-PN alliance won 25 seats in the 36-member state assembly, with BN securing 18 seats and PN seven. PH won 11 seats.
Wawasan, which contested under the PN banner, won three of the four seats it contested in its electoral debut, while Bersatu failed to win a single seat.
Wan Fayhsal also said contesting under the PN banner had strengthened Wawasan’s prospects. He expected the party’s membership to continue growing after positioning itself as a multiracial party.
Asked if Bersatu, where he previously served as youth chief and Supreme Council member, was politically finished after its wipeout in Negeri Sembilan and Johor, he replied: “Yes, they are dead men walking now.”
He acknowledged that replicating the BN-PN model in other states would require negotiations over seat allocations, but said incumbency could provide a workable formula.
“There will be room for negotiations among the top leaders on seat allocations, but I think things will be smooth sailing for all of us in the other states,” he said. - FMT
