Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim and all assemblypersons must respect and remain loyal to the royal institution, safeguard the sovereignty of the state constitution, and recognise the powers vested in the Negeri Sembilan Council of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and the Ruling Chiefs (Dewan Keadilan dan Undang), said state ruler Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
In his royal address during Ismail’s swearing-in ceremony, Tuanku Muhriz also reminded lawmakers that they must uphold their responsibilities with integrity, honesty and sincerity, while placing the interests of the people and state above political or personal interests.

Lawyers for Animal Rights has criticised the police investigation into the death of Rocky, a dog that died during a stray-capture operation by the Klang Royal City Council on July 29, arguing that the case should not be investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code.
In a statement today, the group's chairperson Rajesh Nagarajan said Section 428, which deals with mischief involving property, was inappropriate, as it treats the matter as damage to property rather than the killing of a sentient animal.
Rajesh Nagarajan He added that the Animal Welfare Act 2015 is the proper legal framework, citing provisions that criminalise causing unnecessary pain or suffering to animals and prohibit the killing of animals except under specific legal exceptions.
