HULU SELANGOR: Four people trapped following a sudden water surge while taking a dip at a river in Kampung Orang Asli Pertak, Kuala Kubu Baru, were rescued by firefighters this afternoon.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 4.19pm.
He said a team of four firefighters, along with a fire engine from the Kuala Kubu Baru Fire and Rescue Station, was dispatched to the scene.
"The operation was also assisted by five members of the Batang Kali Volunteer Fire Brigade.
"Initial information showed that a man was trapped while taking a dip at a waterfall," he said in a statement today.
However, he said latest information showed that four victims were trapped across two separate locations.
He said firefighters, together with volunteer firefighters, used a river-crossing technique with the aid of rescue ropes to bring all victims to safety.
