A party source told Berita Harian that former state assembly deputy speaker Datuk Mohd Asna Amin, who won the Lenggeng seat, was also named by the coalition.
The source said the third candidate is Johol assemblyman and Kuala Pilah Umno division secretary Datuk Saiful Yazan Sulaiman.
"Their names were submitted for consideration and consent to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, last night," the source said today.
The source added that the swearing-in ceremony for the new menteri besar is expected to take place today.
Last night, BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed that the coalition had submitted three names to Tuanku Muhriz.
The deputy prime minister said the new state government would be formed with a 25-seat majority out of 36 state seats won by the BN and Perikatan Nasional coalition in the 16th state election.
Jalaluddin, who is the Jelebu member of Parliament, retained the Pertang seat after defeating two challengers with a 3,719-vote majority.
Mohd Asna secured 15,960 votes, winning by a majority of 9,994 votes compared to 685 votes in the previous election, defeating Pakatan Harapan's Zarinna Abu Zarin and Bersatu's Zool Amali Hussin.
Saiful Yazan, who has held the Johol seat since 2018, obtained 6,663 votes against PH candidate Mohd Zailan Mohd Munawar, who polled 2,280 votes, winning with a 4,383-vote majority.
Election Commission chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun told a press conference last night that BN won 18 of the 36 seats, followed by PH with 11 seats and PN with seven seats.
He said the election was conducted freely, fairly, and transparently, with 646,084 voters, or 72.64 per cent of total registered voters, exercising their rights. - NST
