Perikatan Nasional alleges that RoS's director-general Zulfikar Ahmad had deliberately acted to pre-empt the court’s decision by deregistering the coalition while its judicial review and stay applications are still pending.

The application was filed by PN secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan and four others, naming Zulfikar as the sole respondent.
Lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali, who represents the coalition, confirmed the filing.
In its grounds of application, PN alleged that the RoS had deliberately acted to pre-empt the court’s decision by deregistering the coalition while its judicial review and stay applications were still pending.
It claimed that the move was intended to interfere with and obstruct the proper administration of justice, rendering its judicial review application academic and futile.
“The first respondent’s act constitutes a deliberate act by a party to pending proceedings, with full knowledge of those proceedings and the questions submitted to the court, intended and tending to interfere with, obstruct and pre-empt the administration of justice in these proceedings,” the applicants said in their grounds of application.
Case management in chambers has been fixed for Nov 12.
On Oct 5, PN filed a judicial review application against the RoS, seeking, among others, a certiorari order to quash a Sept 23 notice suspending the coalition’s activities indefinitely and a Sept 22 show-cause notice requiring it to explain why it should not be deregistered.
The coalition also sought a declaration that both notices were null and void.
On Oct 13, the High Court granted PN leave to commence the judicial review proceedings.
A week later, the RoS deregistered the coalition.
On Oct 22, the High Court granted a stay of the deregistration, allowing PN to contest the upcoming Melaka state election under its own banner. - FMT
