Melaka PH chairman Adly Zahari said the voter's determination to return and cast a ballot on Nov 14 reflected the strong commitment of voters living abroad.

Adly said although the voter’s return happened to coincide with the festive season, the person’s determination to return and cast a ballot on Nov 14 was greatly appreciated, reflecting the strong commitment of voters living abroad.
“I appreciate their sacrifice, even though they returned early, possibly because of the festive holidays. I truly appreciate it because, usually, during state elections, it is difficult to see overseas voters returning home to vote, unlike during a national general election,” he told reporters.
Adly said he and his team had visited nearly 60% of the Bukit Katil constituency, where he seeks a third term. “The response from residents has been quite good. We know that the people of Melaka, not just those in Bukit Katil, are friendly. We have also avoided playing on sentiments during the campaign because we do not want issues that could make the campaign tense,” he said.
Adly said that after serving in Bukit Katil for eight years, most residents already knew him, with some taking the opportunity to raise local issues.
He said PH had instructed all its candidates to promptly address residents’ complaints that could be resolved during the campaign period, while matters requiring longer-term action should be referred to the relevant authorities.
“Do not wait until Nov 14. Whatever can be resolved should be referred to the agencies and settled. That is part of our responsibility,” he said.
Adly faces a four-cornered contest against Ridzuan Sarif of Perikatan Nasional, Aliza Che Amran of Bersama and independent candidate Abu Bakar Sabudin.
In the 2021 election, Adly won the seat with a majority of 1,057 votes, also in a four-cornered contest. - FMT
