Cops investigate Jamal for beer-smashing stunt

Shah Alam police are investigating Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos for unlawful assembly over his beer-smashing stunt this morning outside the Selangor State Secretariat (SUK) building.
“Shah Alam police have confirmed that we have received a report (on the incident) and investigations are being carried out under Section 143 of the Penal Code,” said district police chief Shafien Mamat in a statement.
If found guilty, Jamal could face up to six months' jail, or a fine, or both.
It was reported earlier that SUK enforcement chief Misnun Ramli would be filing a report against Jamal for failing to clean up the mess he made at the gates of the building in Shah Alam.
He had brought several boxes of beer to the gates, and repeatedly swung a sledgehammer at them, in apparent protest against beer festivals being allowed to take place in the state.
"If you want to drink, let (Selangor Menteri Besar) Azmin Ali and the gang, the executive councillors, drink and get drunk in their offices.

"But don't let the Selangor people become drunk at beer parties," Jamal said as he smashed the boxes.
"Is this MB inviting the Selangor people to get drunk? They (the beer festivals) should be cancelled," he added.
Jamal was also under investigation by police last month for another stunt involving a sledgehammer, when he broke two tables in "symbolic" protest against the state government's alleged inaction over illegal gambling centres.- Mkini
