'Data breach article removal due to miscommunication'

PARLIAMENT | The removal of an article on a massive personal data breach published on popular technology website Lowyat.net was the result of a miscommunication.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak told the Dewan Rakyat today that regulators Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have since cleared the air with Lowyat.net.
"Some personal data could be seen in the article. That is why MCMC felt it was inappropriate.
"However, this is more of a miscommunication between MCMC and Lowyat.net," Salleh said during Question Time.
The minister said this in reply to Teo Nie Ching (DAP-Kulai), who sought an explanation as to why MCMC compelled Lowyat.net to remove the article.
Teo argued that this was tantamount to "shooting the messenger."
On Oct 19, Lowyat.net uploaded an article, which highlighted that the personal data of millions of Malaysians were up for sale.
Two hours later, MCMC ordered the website to remove the article.
The article was restored the next day, about 9pm.- Mkini
