IN BOLD MOVE, JOHOR PRINCE ENDS RACE-BASED FOOTBALL ASSOCIATIONS: JOHOR PALACE TRAILBLAZES WITH MOVES TO UNITE THE PEOPLE WHILE NAJIB, KHAIRY & CO DO THE OPPOSITE

In what appears to be move to promote unity in the state, the Crown Prince of Johor Tunku Ismail disbanded three race-based football associations on Wednesday.
Tunku Ismail, who is also Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) owner and Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president, disbanded the Johor Malays Football Association (FA), Indian FA and Chinese FA.
The Sultan of Johor has been making the state an example for unity
The three associations will, however, be allowed to rebrand themselves as clubs and compete in Johor’s district leagues.
“We don’t need these type of associations. The Sultan of Johor has been making the state an example for unity,” said Tunku Ismail.
“They can become clubs and compete in the district leagues, which is under the Johor Football Association.”

The club has renamed its marketing department ‘Commercial and Branding’, while Luciano Figueroa, who was last month appointed Sporting Director, was redesignated to Club Ambassador and will be responsible for international relations.
Former player agent Martin Prest, who first came to Johor when the club signed Daniel Guiza in 2013, was appointed as Sporting Director.
Prest has been intrumental in the arrival Pablo Aimar, Figueroa and Jorge Pereyra Diaz in the past. Alistair Edwards remains Technical Director.
