'It was a misunderstanding', says Syed Saddiq on former Bersatu veep

The spat between Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman and the party’s former vice-president Hamidah Osman had been a misunderstanding.
Syed Saddiq admitted this to the press after a meeting with Hamidah’s sister, Hamizura, in Petaling Jaya today. Also present as mediator is PKR Women’s Wing exco member Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, who is also better known by her social media handle ‘Ratu Naga’.
“Today my discussion with Syed Saddiq is to explain how from early on, I am convinced that Syed Saddiq did not receive accurate information due to a lack of communication.
“I feel that Syed Saddiq heard stories from one side and did not try to get the story from the other side,” Hamizura told reporters today after the meeting that lasted well over an hour.
Saddiq, meanwhile, said he would seek a meeting with Hamidah in a bid to mend ties between the two.
“I feel this is the best way to resolve this issue. It is not only a party issue but also the good relations since before (Bersatu) was even established. I accept Hamizura’s and Ema’s advice on this.
“Through my own channels, I would not only meet Hamizura, but Hamidah as well, and try to settle this once and for all. If there are other actions to be taken, I would still respect Hamidah’s actions as I had said before.

“Inshallah (God willing), we can move forward and focus on more important things,” he said.
Hamidah, who was a founding member of Bersatu, had resigned on Sept 16. She had been accused of masterminding an internal party coup to pressure Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin to resign.
On his part, Syed Saddiq had accused her of being an Umno agent. He had also alleged a conspiracy to threaten and bribe him and other Bersatu founding members, including Hamidah, to weaken the party.
