Johor Sultan’s daughter is new BAssets chairman

Tunku-Aminah-Sultan-Ibrahim-Ismail-berjaya-assetsKUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Johor’s daughter, Tunku Aminah Sultan Ibrahim Ismail, has been appointed the new non-independent and non-executive chairman of Berjaya Assets Bhd (BAssets).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the company said Tunku Aminah, 31, had “considerable experience in heading private organisations across a broad range of industries”.
Seven months ago, she became chairman of REDTone International Bhd, a telecommunication specialist firm.
She is also on the board of several private companies, including Berjaya Waterfront Sdn Bhd, Jauhari Maksima Sdn Bhd and Ibzi Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Tunku Aminah is also the president of the Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club, or JDT, and chairperson of the Johor Cerebral Palsy Association.
On Monday, it was revealed that Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar was the second biggest individual shareholder in BAssets after acquiring 80 million shares, increasing his stake to 10.09% or 120 million shares.
Berjaya Corp holds a 16.81% stake in BAssets. The company owns Berjaya Times Square Sdn Bhd, BTS Car Park Sdn Bhd, Berjaya Waterfront Sdn Bhd, Berjaya Assets Food (BAF) Sdn Bhd and Sublime Cartel Sdn Bhd.
