Police report lodged over MACC official ‘adultery’ video

A police report has been lodged on an online video clip allegedly portraying a top MACC official’s involvement with a married woman.
“If the contents of the video are true, this is a serious matter, as having an affair with someone’s wife to the point of destroying a family is something unacceptable by the rakyat.
“It involves the individual’s morals, even more so when the individual is a top official of an institution like MACC,” Muhd Syazwan Ahmad Zainal said in a statement today as Bersatu Youth exco.
However, Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has denied that Syazwan is an exco of their youth wing, adding that he was sent a dismissal letter three months ago due to disciplinary issues.
"I stress that Bersatu Youth stands with MACC to combat corruption. Toxic and gutter politics is not our way to moving forward," he said in a statement.
The video clip, which was uploaded onto YouTube, allegedly shows evidence of the official having an affair with a woman, who is said to be married with children.
As such, Syazwan urged for investigations to be conducted into the matter, and for authorities to take action under the relevant laws.
In particular, he wants the police to investigate the matter under Section 498 of the Penal Code, which deals with “enticing or taking away or detaining with a criminal intent a married woman.”
He also urged the MACC official involved to come forward to deny the contents of the video if it is false in order to preserve the reputation of the anti-graft agency.
It was reported yesterday that the inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun had said they will investigate the matter, after a police report was lodged by a marketing executive.

The video clip had also alleged that the woman and her husband had divorced due to the woman's alleged affair with the MACC official.
However, the couple had denied that their divorce was because of an affair with the MACC official.
Meanwhile, MACC deputy chief commissioner Azam Baki reportedly declined to comment when asked if they would look into this matter. - Mkini
