The police have summoned a secretariat member of the anti-kleptocracy rally which was held at Padang Timur in Petaling Jaya two days ago.
Petaling Jaya councillor Lim Yi Wei, 27, is being probed under Section 15(1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) 2012, said lawyer Vince Tan.
According to him, Lim arrived at the Petaling Jaya police district headquarters after 5pm and she was questioned for about 40 minutes.
Section 15(1) of PAA deals with restriction and condition on an assembly for the purpose of security or public order. A person is liable to a maximum fine of RM10,000 if convicted.
Speaking to Malaysiakini, Lim, who is also DAP lawmaker Tony Pua's political secretary, said the investigating officer mainly asked about her background and basic questions about the rally.
"We have been very cooperative with the police from the start. We notified police more than 10 days before the rally in accordance with the PAA. When the police wrote back to us, we went to meet them.
"They did not give any indication whether I will be charged. But I hope that's not the case because we have the right to assemble under the PAA," she added.
Police had objected to the "Love Malaysia, Eradicate Kleptocracy" rally organised by Pakatan Harapan and vowed to take appropriate action against those involved.
However, Petaling Jaya City Council allowed the field to be used on Oct 14 despite objection by the police. - Mkini
