PETALING JAYA: Despite a clear stance taken by the Rulers against religious bigotry, preacher Zamihan Mat Zin remains defiant as he continued posting extreme views on social media.
A check on Zamihan’s Facebook page on Monday (Oct 16) showed that the preacher, who is being investigated for sedition, made several postings against issues he deemed as “struggles” in the name of Islam.
“There are certain individuals who are trying to promote the LGBT lifestyle. Muslims must be aware of current issues, particularly the threat of western culture.”
These postings came after Zamihan was released on police bail last Saturday (Oct 14) over his comments on the Muar launderette issue.
Zamihan also attacked followers of Ahmadiah, a sect ruled as “deviant” by the National Fatwa Council.
He posted an image allegedly of an annual general assembly of the Hemaat Ahmadiah Muslim Malaysia and called on Muslims to voice their objections against the “deviant” religion.
In another posting, Zamihan congratulated a group known as Majlis Ayahanda Johor for objecting to a beer festival held in the state.
“We must unite and defend Islam. This is such a big issue and it is compulsory for us to address this.”
Netizens have come out in support of Zamihan, with some praising him for having a strong spirit.
“Keep up the your spirits,” Hafiz Shukri commented on Facebook.
Another user Mohd Zuhri Ahmad Hamadi said Zamihan’s ordeal of being arrested was a challenge, and he should continue his struggle for the “truth”.
Others were unforgiving towards the controversial preacher.
Facebook user Azahar Mohd said Zamihan should change his attitude.
Change your behaviour and use your knowledge wisely,” Azahar said.
On Monday, Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah instructed the Selangor Islamic Religious Council to revoke the accreditation of Zamihan to give lectures in any of the state’s mosque and surau.
