Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos has confirmed that he will not be making an appearance at Pakatan Harapan's anti-kleptocracy rally.
This is due to the possibility of arrest he may face should he makes an appearance.
"They want to arrest me just for selling fish, I'm tired of going into lockup," Jamal said in a WhatsApp message.
Jamal had pledged to set up a fish stall at the rally site, selling seafood at discounted prices.
The red-shirts leader was previously arrested in the wee hours of Oct 6 and spent two nights in a lockup.
This followed a stunt in which he smashed cartons of beer outside the Selangor state government office.
In a statement sent out by his aide, Jamal also apologised to his supporters for not being able to turn up.
Earlier, one of Jamal's associates, Razali Zakaria (photo), was spotted at the neighbouring Amcorp Mall parking lot at about 5pm with two others.
"We're here to see if everything is peaceful. If it is, then carry on (with the rally)," he said.
Jamal had previously been warned by the Petaling Jaya City Council and the police not to interfere with the Harapan rally in Padang Timur.
He has threatened to dump wastewater from his fish stall on Petaling Jaya mayor Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain.- Mkini
