Woo: Bid to hold DAP event in schools was to expose BN's true colours

The bid to hold a DAP-themed event in primary schools was to expose the BN government's true colours, according to a DAP Youth leader.
By rejecting the application, Joshua Woo claimed the Education Ministry proved that last week's Umno-themed competition at a school in Putrajaya was indeed “political indoctrination”.
Woo clarified that the applicants for the "DAP And Penang" programme had no intention of bringing politics into schools.
“In fact, we disagree with BN for bringing politics into our schools.
“What we did was not to provoke. Rather, we wanted to expose the true colours of the BN government,” he told a press conference in Bukit Mertajam today.
Yesterday, Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid rejected the possibility of holding a DAP event in schools.
Mahdzir said there was no clear reason for holding such an event and claimed that it was to serve as a provocation.
Meanwhile, Woo noted that Mahadzir had defended the Umno event, organised by the Malaysian Historical Society and Putrajaya Umno, as a history lesson and not a political programme.
However, he said when the minister prevented others from holding a similar event, it revealed the double standard and hypocrisy of the government.

“More importantly, it exposed their lie. What they did to our students was clearly political indoctrination,” he insisted.
“The government and ministers should stop giving lame excuses to Malaysians. It is only right for parents to object against such deception and brainwashing of their children,” he added.
Education groups had criticised the Putrajaya event which witnessed pupils waving Umno flags, chanting party slogans and singing the Umno anthem.- Mkini
