PETALING JAYA: Bukit Aman has called up MCA central committee member Chan Quin Er in connection with the expose of a circular on instructions to the Attorney General's Chambers to hasten judicial hearings of high-profile cases.

The action by the police follows the email circular by Solicitor General III, Datuk Mohamad Hanafiah Zakaria, which was leaked by Chan and went viral.
She said it showed the AGC was not acting independently.
A former federal counsel with the AGC from 2014 to 2018, Chan said the impartiality of the AGC was now questionable.
On the police calling her up, she said it looked like the reality of being a whistleblower in Malaysia had not really changed since the dawn of Malaysia Baru (New Malaysia).
“What we really want with our institutions in Malaysia Baru is a high standard of integrity.
"That is all I am asking for. That is what most Malaysians asked for.
“But it looks like Pakatan Harapan must have their way,” the lawyer said in a statement on Thursday (Feb 14).
Chan said someone filed a police report because she raised questions about political interference in a supposedly independent institution.
“Malaysia Baru is supposed to mean that the rakyat are empowered to monitor and hold the government accountable. But it seems that the plot is now lost.
“Weren’t the democratic values of transparency, non-political interference and responsible freedom of speech in Malaysia Baru the very same ideals bandied by the former Opposition all these years?
“So much for Pakatan's pre-GE14 promise of more civil liberties, for more transparency and to abolish laws such as the OSA.
"Happy Valentine’s Day,” she said.- Star
