PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has rubbished the idea of a motion of no- confidence against Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Parliament.
Asked whether he would back Mahathir against such a vote, Anwar said a motion of no-confidence would only come from PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
"What is the issue? Why are you bringing up what Hadi wants?
"It is Hadi's motion. Let him move the motion," Anwar told reporters in Petaling Jaya today.
Anwar also said that speculation of a move to topple Mahathir was just a PAS attempt to "sow the seeds of discord".
"Since they failed miserably (in the election) and they supported and defended corruption in the name of Islam, the only option left is to sow the seeds of discord," he said.
PAS is alleging that there is an internal effort in Pakatan Harapan to oust Mahathir. This following a meeting Hadi had with the prime minister.
Hadi said today that should a no-confidence vote take place, they would support Mahathir.
Harapan leaders, however, have dismissed the plot as pure speculation.
Anwar reiterated today that it was difficult to tell if PAS was lying since the party said lying was permissible. - Mkini
