Search-and-rescue personnel are looking for the passenger of a ferry who is believed to have fallen overboard as the vessel headed from George Town to Butterworth on the mainland today, according to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
Four boats, belonging to the MMEA, Marine Police, Fire & Rescue Department and Penang Port, arrived at the location, about 1.5 km northwest of the Butterworth Ferry Terminal, at 9.50am to conduct the search, according to information obtained from the MMEA.
Bernama learned that the passenger fell overboard at 9.20 am.
As of 2.30 pm, the search-and-rescue team had not found the passenger.
