'Bossku' can win likes on social media, not votes in Semenyih

Former premier Najib Abdul Razak might have reinvented his image and become a popular figure on social media with the 'Bossku' moniker.
However, Institute Darul Ehsan (IDE), a Selangor government think-tank, said this would not translate into votes for BN in the Semenyih by-election on March 2.
Responding to a question on Najib's influence, IDE deputy chairperson Mohammad Redzuan Othman pointed out that some in Umno still perceived the former premier as a liability since he was the reason for BN's defeat in the last general election.
Therefore, he said Umno would not rope in Najib as its main campaigner for the by-election.
"Umno is attempting to portray a new image. The party is more confident of using (cooperating with) PAS compared to MCA and MIC,” he told a press conference in Shah Alam today.
Redzuan noted that it was the "Mat Rempit" (youth bikers) who turned up at Najib's event.
“They came for fun and entertainment.
"The same happened during the campaign for the Cameron Highlands by-election, he came, took selfies and uploaded (the images) on social media. He is not a dominant figure.
"I am confident that Umno knows roping in Najib will not give them votes," he added.
Najib's resurging popularity has been cited by some as a factor that helped BN win in last month's Cameron Highlands by-election.
Umno acting chairperson Mohamad Hasan has said that Najib was operating on his own platform, but his contributions to BN were still welcome.
"Malu Apa Bossku" is the tagline of Najib's social media campaign which has gained traction among his followers. - Mkini
