Ex-Kota Tinggi MP claims trial to 14 bribery charges

Former Kota Tinggi MP Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid pleaded not guilty to 14 charges of receiving around RM23,540 in bribes for his monthly vehicle instalments at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today.
Ehsanuddin was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code, according to a report by The Malay Mail
Case mention has been fixed for March 14.
He is accused of committing the offences during his tenure as Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) board director between February 2014 and November 2015.
Ehsanuddin is alleged to have received the sum in 14 separate cheques from Karya Hidayah Sdn Bhd at the Affin Bank Bhd branch in Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur.
The prosecution requested for the imposition of bail of RM30,000 and for Ehsanuddin to report himself at the nearest MACC office on a monthly basis.
His lawyer R Thrichelvam objected to the latter requirement, saying that his client is a businessperson who needed to travel often.
Sessions judge Azman Ahmad dismissed the plea, allowing bail with RM30,000 with one surety, and ordered the accused to report to the MACC on the first week of every month.
Last week, Ehsanuddin was charged at the Sessions Court in Johor Bahru with receiving RM50,000 and a parcel of land as bribes from a printing company in 2013 and 2014.
He claimed trial to both charges.
Ehsanuddin served a single term as Kota Tinggi MP, from 2013 to 2018.
He also served as communications director for the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) under the Prime Minister's Department, director of Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) and a board member of Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGV). - Mkini
