SEMENYIH POLLS | Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Semenyih by-election, Muhammad Aiman Zainali today denied allegations that the coalition had distributed hampers and house renovation offer letters to local voters.
“Those (hampers and offer letters) are not from our side, but I’m not sure where they are from. I think we had lodged a police report regarding this," Aiman told the media when met in Kampung Baru Semenyih this morning.
“As I have said before, we must contest the elections cleanly. I have always adhered to this principle up until now,” he added.
In a Facebook post yesterday, Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki accused Harapan of having engaged in bribery.
Asyraf said that he and his team had seen hampers and letters offering house renovations under the Housing Programme for the Hardcore Poor (PPRT) allegedly being distributed to voters in the polling district of Sungai Jai.
He also published photos of the hampers and envelopes which contained the purported PPRT letters.
“It looks like Pakatan Harapan is so arrogant and has not learnt its lesson from the Cameron Highlands by-election.
"The Umno Youth team and I saw hampers and letters offering house renovations under the PPRT scheme being distributed to voters when we visited them in the polling district of Sungai Jai in Semenyih.
“This is clearly an election offence and also political bribery in an attempt to secure votes in Semenyih,” said Asyraf in his Facebook post.
According to a statement from Umno, Negeri Sembilan Umno Youth chief Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir lodged a police report about the matter at 10pm last night. - Mkini
