DAP's Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang described a list of MPs who are purportedly prepared to support a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad as a "fabrication and falsehood".
Lim, who was listed one of the 101 MPs, also questioned if it was another "syariah-compliant lie" in an apparent reference to PAS which first raised the claim of an alleged internal coup within Pakatan Harapan against Mahathir.
"A so-called list of 101 MPs who have agreed to support the vote of no- confidence against Mahathir has even been circulated on the social media with the constituencies given [...] when it is just total and sheer fabrication and falsehood," he said in a statement today.
PAS previously defended its central committee leader Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz who admitted to lying after he was captured on an audio recording talking about PAS receiving money from Umno.
This led to Harapan leaders questioning PAS' honesty when it alleged an internal coup against Mahathir.
"Malaysian politics and public affairs have been infested with lies and falsehoods with very creative attempts to justify them with the creation of the term 'syariah-compliant lies'.
"On top of Malaysia’s infamy as a global kleptocracy under the previous administration, do Malaysians want to make another signal contribution to the world with the creative coinage of the term 'syariah-compliant lie'?
"It is time that we restore decency, morality and integrity in politics and public affairs in Malaysia," said Lim. - Mkini
