Muhyiddin: Dr M told the truth and now PAS is trapped

SEMENYIH POLLS | Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin believed the Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad told the truth when he said PAS had pledged not to support BN in the coming Semenyih by-election
"I am confident that his (Mahathir's) statement is not fabricated, it is not that he does not understand Bahasa (Malaysia).
"When such circumstance arise, PAS is trapped. When they are trapped, the normal (thing they do) is to lie," he told a press conference today while campaigning at Beranang for the Pakatan Harapan candidate for the upcoming Semenyih by-election.
He was asked to comment on PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan's revelation that PAS pledged to back Mahathir who he claimed risked being ousted by two of Harapan parties via a vote of no-confidence in Parliament.
He also revealed the level of PAS' commitment to BN for the Semenyih by-election would not be the same as seen for the Cameron Highlands polls.
"When he (Takiyuddin) said PAS' commitment in Semenyih will not be the same as the Cameron Highlands by-election, it is either that the party will not support or downsize its support (for BN)," said Muhyiddin.
"I just cannot understand the people who lie.
"I am not privy to what had transpired in the meeting (held last Friday), Tun (Mahathir) knows more about it," he added.
"He will be here (in Semenyih) on Feb 28, so maybe he will explain the matters in detail," said Muhyiddin.
'Not threatening'
Muhyiddin, who is also Pakatan Harapan election committee chairperson, also said he was unfazed with the supposed popularity enjoyed by former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak in Semenyih.
It was reported that some 500 people had shown up at the Bandar Tasek Kesuma flats to listen to Najib's ceramah last night (above).
"We have gone through many polls, sometimes thousands came but (we are) uncertain how they vote," he said.
"But we are not going to be distracted. Who is Bossku by the way? The Bossku administration fell because he stole money from the people," he said referring to Najib's social media persona.
He said the people came out to greet him as they were curious and they probably hadn't seen Najib on television for some time.
"For me, this is not something threatening as I am confident the people in Semenyih are smart enough," he added.
Muhyiddin also said that Harapan candidate Muhammad Aiman Zainali had easy access to both the Harapan-led Selangor state government and the federal government as compared with his counterpart from BN.
"If Aiman wants to see the menteri besar, he can just open the door and enter but for the candidate from the other side, it will take a longer time," he said. - Mkini
