SEMENYIH POLLS | Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin today admitted that Pakatan Harapan candidate Muhammad Aiman Zainali for the Semenyih by-election has a problem communicating with people.
However, the home minister said Aiman, as a rookie, needs some time to adapt to the election campaign where he had to meet many voters.
"But he is smart and energetic, he has the credential. He has the potential to become an effective candidate, not for now, but in the future," he told a press conference when asked about the 30-year-old electronic engineering graduate.
Muhyiddin urged people not to pass judgment on Aiman in that he was not capable of performing.
"We will try to improve his performance (on how to interact with people) so he can act naturally, so people will not say he is acting," he said.
"Just let him be as he is for the time being, he needs time. I think he will perform better after this," he said.
The Semenyih by-election was called following the death of state assemblyperson Bakthiar Mohd Nor.
After nomination day, Aiman (above) at times appeared uncomfortable answering tough questions posed by the media.
He has accepted interview requests by certain media only. - Mkini
