SHAFIE’S MPs POISED TO WALK OUT ON MAHATHIR IN PROTEST AT HIS VOLTE-FACE? HOLD YOUR HORSES, GUAN ENG TELLS DR M AS WARISAN THREATENS ‘REBELLION’ – LET PAKATAN LEADERSHIP COUNCIL DISCUSS BERSATU’S MOVE TO SABAH

The decision of Bersatu to spread its wings to Sabah should be discussed at the Pakatan Harapan leadership council meeting, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said.
Lim, who is also finance minister, said just like the admission of former Umno members into Bersatu, the decision for Bersatu to venture into Sabah should be discussed by the council as agreed by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad himself.
“Let’s wait for the meeting to be held, then we will decide,” he told reporters after attending the Chinese New Year open house organised by Air Itam assemblyperson’s service centre in George Town yesterday.
Yesterday, Mahathir, who is also Bersatu chairperson, was reported to have said that the party had agreed to open its branch in Sabah.
He said the decision was merely to provide an avenue for former Umno members who do not wish to join Warisan to join Bersatu.

LEIKING APPEALS FOR CALM IN WARISAN AS BERSATU ENTERS SABAH
FEDERAL minister and Warisan number two Darell Leiking has appealed for calm over Bersatu’s entry into Sabah, saying the party’s president is now working to save Sabah from “evil people”.
It has been widely speculated that Bersatu will rope in former Sabah Umno leaders.
“At present, we want all Warisan members to remain calm and wait for the president’s statement over what has happened over the last 24 hours.
“I believe the president will come out with the right response or reaction tomorrow,” Leiking said, referring to Shafie Apdal who is also Sabah chief minister.
Leiking, who is also international trade and industry minister, said Bersatu’s entry into the state in spite of an earlier promise will not jeopardise the present state cabinet.
“You see, my position in the federal cabinet is up to the prime minister, I think the cabinet positions in Sabah is also under the prerogative of the chief minister,” he said after an event in Kota Kinabalu today.
Leiking, who is Penampang MP, is expected to meet Shafie later today.
Warisan members are looking to Shafie to announce the party’s plans to protest Bersatu’s entry to Sabah which was announced by Pakatan Harapan chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday.
The development has angered not only Warisan grassroots members but also Sabah PKR and Sabah DAP as it is seen as a move to weaken the state government ruled by a local pact led by Warisan.
Leiking said Umno defectors who now wanted to join Bersatu are trying to find ways to come back to power and hopes Bersatu would stick to its policy of not giving government or political positions to elected reps who defect to the party.
