SEMENYIH: PPBM Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said he would not retract his police report that he was assaulted by controversial blogger Papagomo.
“The police have pictures, videos and witnesses,” he said when commenting on a statement by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim that the incident involving him and the blogger, whose real name is Wan Muhammad Azri, was a misunderstanding.
The youth and sports minister had lodged the police report after he alleged that he was assaulted and intimidated by Papagomo and other opposition supporters during the nomination for the Semenyih by-election in Kajang on Saturday.
Papagomo was detained at his home in Setapak, at about 3pm the day after.
Syed Saddiq denied that he had wandered into an area meant for Barisan Nasional supporters.
“The area was not BN’s territory, it was far from the location,” he told reporters after a Pakatan Harapan Youth meeting in Beranang here this evening.
Earlier, Rashid said police had concluded that Papagomo did not pick a fight with Syed Saddiq.
“I looked at the accusations and I find that it was not to an extent where a fight happened.
“It was a misunderstanding and there was some ‘pushing’ around,” he told reporters at a service medal awards ceremony at the Selangor police contingent in Shah Alam.
The Star reported that Papagomo, who was remanded for three days to assist in investigations, was released on police bail yesterday after police investigations. - FMT
