We’ll see if PAS supports me in a no-confidence motion, says Dr M

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is taking a wait-and-see approach over whether PAS will honour its pledge to support him in event of a no-confidence vote to oust him.
“I will wait. If there is a no-confidence vote, I want to see if PAS supports me or not,” he told reporters when asked to comment on PAS’ pledge to support him.
He was speaking to reporters after visiting the Ministry of Defence’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Previously, Mahathir claimed that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang promised that his party would not be campaigning for Umno in the Semenyih by-election during a meeting between the two on Feb 15.
Mahathir also claimed to have a document signed by PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan to that effect.
When nomination day for the by-election came however, the BN candidate Zakaria Hanafi was accompanied by PAS representatives.
Takiyuddin, meanwhile, had claimed that the document presented to Mahathir was a draft pledge promising the support of PAS’ 18 MPs if there is a no-confidence vote against him.
He claimed that two Pakatan Harapan component parties may be plotting to oust him through a no-confidence vote in parliament.
Various Harapan leaders have denied the existence of such plot. - Mkini
