DR Mahathir Mohamad said today he does not need any support from PAS but more than 50% support from Pakatan Harapan lawmakers to remain as prime minister.
PH already has the numbers in the Dewan Rakyat, the PH chairman said today.
“I need the support of at least more than 50% of elected representatives. I do not need the support from PAS because PH has more than half of the seats in the Dewan Rakyat,” he told a press conference after launching a new plant by Metrod Holdings in Klang today.

I don’t need PAS’ support to remain as PM, declares Dr M
Dr Mahathir Mohamad has declared that he does not need support from the opposition, especially PAS, to remain as prime minister.
He said support from within Pakatan Harapan was sufficient.
“I need the support of around more than 50 percent (of MPs). I don’t need PAS’ support because Harapan itself has more than half of the seats in Dewan Rakyat,” he told reporters in Klang this afternoon.
Mahathir was commenting on PAS pledging support for his leadership in the event there is a vote of no-confidence against him.
The premier, who is also Harapan chairperson, said while PAS claims to support him, some of its actions indicated otherwise.
PAS has accused PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and DAP of plotting to remove Mahathir. Both have denied the allegation.
Last week, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the Islamist party had got wind of the plot and stressed that there is “no smoke without fire”.
He said PAS would throw its weight behind Mahathir to preserve the nation’s Islamic leadership. – mkini
