PUTRAJAYA: Law Minister Datuk Seri Liew Vui Keong has laughed off the suggestion by a PKR senator that a law be enacted to "protect" men from being "seduced" by women into committing sex crimes.
"Overboard? You can say that, " said Liew at a press conference here, when asked to comment on the issue.
"The president of PKR (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has come out with a statement asking the senator to retract his suggestion.
"The president himself does not agree, and I think that says a lot about what the party and the general public think (of the statement), " said Liew.
PKR senator Mohd Imran Abd Hamid said in the Dewan Negara that a "sexual harassment act" should be enacted to protect them from women who might cause them to be seduced to a point where they committed acts like incest, rape and molestation.
Anwar criticised Mohd Imran's remarks, saying the party rejected such a proposal as it was "absurd and an insult to women".
Mohd Imran has since apologised and retracted his statement. - Star
