After misuse, FT ministry to come up with guidelines for community halls

The Federal Territories Ministry will issue a guideline on the management of community halls to those tasked with supervising such facilities in Kuala Lumpur.
Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said this was needed so that the halls would not be misused and would be maintained properly.
"After Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has temporarily taken over the management of community halls, we would hand management back to the communities involved.
"We will get the residents to appoint a committee among themselves to manage the hall and they will adopt the guidelines which we will provide later,” he told reporters.

He said this at an event to celebrate the Centre of Studies for Town and Regional Planning, Faculty of Architecture, Planning & Surveying, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) 50th anniversary in Puncak Alam, Shah Alam today.
At the same time, Khalid reminded communities to be responsible in taking care and supervising the halls.
Khalid, in a statement earlier, said that City Hall had taken over the management of 202 community halls in the city.
This was done after City Hall found that the majority of the halls had been misused for personal and political gains besides having been poorly managed and maintained. - Bernama
