KLANG: Port Klang assemblyman Azmizam Zaman Huri of PKR has lodged a police report against businessman Koon Yew Yin over his alleged slur against the Armed Forces.
Azmizam, who made his report at the Klang South police headquarters on Saturday (Aug 17), said he had received many complaints from the public following Koon's disparging blog entry.
Koon wrote in his blog that Armed Forces personnel were “doing nothing except eating and sleeping and that some of them should replace the foreign workers in the Felda plantations”.
"His insulting statement has angered many people. The statement was akin to ignoring the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and cannot be accepted, " Azmizam said.
Azmizam added that it was this very peace that enabled Koon to amass his wealth.
"I truly hope the authorities will initiate the strictest action to prevent a repeat.
"At the same time it will also serve as a lesson to others, regardless of race and political background to not insult armed forces personnel and other security forces, " he added.
Azmizam was accompanied by several Klang residents as well as about half a dozen non-governmental organisations when lodging his report.- Star
