Police are appealing to the public in their efforts to track down a key witness in the disappearance of social activist Amri Che Mat.
The cops urged those with information on the whereabouts of Saiful Bahari Abdul Aziz (above) to contact the police.
Last year, the Suhakam panel which looked into Amri's disappearance, accused the police of making a “concerted effort to obscure” references and links to Saiful, who was a former Special Branch contract worker.
Saiful’s gold-coloured Toyota Vios was seen parked outside Amri’s house for three consecutive days before his disappearance.
He had persistently declined to testify before the panel.
Then inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said Saiful was a civilian who worked for the police.
According to the Amri family's lawyer David Morais, Saiful had stopped showing up for work in 2017.
Amri disappeared on Nov 24, 2016.
Besides him, Suhakam also looked into the disappearance of pastor Raymond Koh, who was abducted by a group of masked individuals while driving in Kelana Jaya, Selangor on Feb 13, 2017.
The government has set up a special task force to look into both cases. - Mkini
