FISTS flew in a heated brawl in the unlikeliest of places on Friday – at a mosque in Kampung Tinusa, Mile 7, in Sandakan.
A 4-minute-and-22-second video clip of the altercation has since gone viral on social media.
The 12.10pm scuffle is believed to have been sparked by a pre-Friday prayer speech given by the mosque’s treasurer, who was briefing worshippers on the latest status of the mosques’ finances.
The speech incensed a member of the congregation, who claimed that there had been leakages in the management of the mosque’s funds.
The altercation escalated into a shouting match, before the congregant and mosque official began to trade blows.
After a moment of chaos, the two duelling parties were separated by other worshippers who were shaken by the incident.
The Friday prayer later proceeded as scheduled.
It is understood that the treasurer later filed a police report over the brawl.
According to Sandakan police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin, police recorded statements from both men involved in the squabble.
