1. It's normal that a section of Malaysia's young jobless, says Dr Mahathir
Unemployment rate among 15 - 24 years old is normal
in transition process between learning and realities of market," he said
youth unemployment 10.9% in 2018
Malaysia's unemployment rate 3.3% same period
OSTB : Aiyyo mama(k). What a thing to say?
No its not "normal". It depends on the rate of youth unemployment.
Ideally the youth unemployment can be same as or less than the overall unemployment rate.
If youth between 15 - 24 years are unemployed it means the economy has NO entry level jobs for 15 - 24 year olds.
The Banglas, Indons, Filipinas are displacing the local youth at entry level jobs. This is very bad.
Also this is Malaysia. Everything is race, race, race.
Which race suffers the most unemployed youth?
Kadazan - Dusun? Iban? Malay? Indian? Chinese?
Which region has the most unemployment ?
Kelantan, Kedah, Perak, Sarawak, Sabah?
Which region has the least unemployment?
These issues are not being addressed.
2. Young people urged to go to Turkey and find work there
so they can help develop Malaysia on their return
Dr Mahathir held up hard working Turkish people and thirst for knowledge as examples
Development in Turkey is better than Malaysia
Dr Mahathir held up hard working Turkish people and thirst for knowledge as examples
Development in Turkey is better than Malaysia
that is the result of the Turkish people themselves,” said Mahathir
younger generation should go to Turkey, learn Turkish language and work there for 10 years and when they return here, I think there will be changes in Malaysia,” he said.
OSTB : Huh? What ?
Upon reading this, a professor friend sent me this :
Youth Unemployment Rate in Turkey 25.20% in March 2019.
Overall Turkey's Unemployment Rate increased to 13.80% in Apr 2019
Turkey is much worse than Malaysia - 25.20% of their youth are unemployed.
Plus the overall unemployment rate in Turkey is 13.8%.
Malaysian youths between 15-24 years suffer 10.9% unemployment. Dr Mahathir says this is because they :
are in the transition process between a learning environment and the realities of the employment market.
It simply means the education system has failed to give the young people entry level skills.
Dont steal tin susu that fell off a lorry, come to work on time, do not ponteng from work, dont turn your back to the customer etc etc.
So how are our 15-24 year old youths - who cannot get jobs here because they lack skills and learning - going to get jobs in Turkey which has a much worse 25.20% youth unemployent rate?
I have an OutSyed The Box suggestion - bring over say 250,000 Turks to Malaysia and let them bring with them their super advanced skills to develop Malaysia? How about that? Let the Turks replace the Rohingyas, the Indons, the Banglas, etc. Isnt that a brilliant idea?
Why not send our young people to Japan, Germany, Sweden, USA, France etc to work there. Let them stay there for 10 years and then come back with all their experiences. They may come back with a better value system too.
