KUALA LUMPUR: The secretary-general of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture who was called up by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday said he was not the subject of any investigation.
“It’s true that I was called up by the MACC yesterday. It was for the second time. I am assisting in an investigation, and am not being investigated. These are two different things,” Isham Ishak told reporters today.
Isham said he was asked to explain the ministry’s procedures, and had provided information required by MACC including documents.
“But with due respect to the investigation process, I cannot disclose what the investigation is about,” he said.
Isham said there were allegations that he was questioned by MACC over misconduct.
He said MACC officers conducted their interview sessions professionally, and allowed him to return to his office and chair meetings.
Isham said it was the first time MACC called him to assist in an investigation since his appointment as the tourism ministry’s secretary-general in February this year.
He said he had explained the measures he has introduced to prevent irregularities in the ministry.

He also said he would lodge a police report against a news portal for publishing a document pertaining to the ministry which has been classified as confidential. -FMT
