Now, Ku Nan slapped with suit over RM57 million unpaid taxes

KUALA LUMPUR: The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has filed a suit against former minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor to recover RM57.17 million in unpaid taxes since 2012.
According to the theedgemarkets.com, the suit was filed at the High Court here on July 24.
LHDN claimed that the 69-year-old Putrajaya MP and Umno treasurer owed excess taxes for the years 2012 until 2017, in a notice served on him on March 15.
LHDN claimed that Tengku Adnan, better known as Ku Nan, failed to comply and pay the outstanding amount within 30 days of the issuance of the notice.
The former Umno secretary-general is currently facing two charges of accepting RM3 million in bribes from businessmen Chai Kin Kong and Tan Eng Boon.
In June, LHDN also filed a suit to recover RM1.69 billion in additional taxes from former prime minister Najib Razak.
LHDN is also said to be in the process of filing an application for summary judgment from the court without having to go through a trial.
LHDN filed the suit on June 25, asking Najib to pay RM1,692,872,924.83 inclusive of interest allegedly owed between 2011 and 2017.
The suit was initiated after Najib failed to act on LHDN’s initial demand in March for additional tax assessments of RM1.47 billion.
This resulted in a 10% hike of RM147 million in April and another compounded 5% hike of RM80 million in May. - FMT
