Zuraida: Anwar yet to respond to multiple requests for reconciliation

PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin said party president Anwar Ibrahim has yet to entertain multiple requests for him to meet with certain PKR central leadership council members for reconciliation.
This is amid the continued absence of several leaders at party meetings chaired by Anwar, including Zuraida and party deputy Mohamed Azmin Ali.
"The request is for us to reconcile, but it has yet to be entertained. We've sent three letters to the president's office," Zuraida, who is also the housing and local government minister, told journalists after officiating an event at her ministry in Putrajaya.

"(In) the first letter, he said that he's going to Mecca. We then sent a second letter and a third last Monday to ask for a meeting between the president and certain central leadership council members who were elected in the party election," she added.
Zuraida was asked why she and several other PKR leaders have continued to be absent from party meetings.
The leaders, mostly aligned to Azmin, stopped attending the meetings amidst the widening rift between Anwar and Azmin.
On a separate issue, Zuraida said Kapar PKR members were free to lodge police reports against Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad but there had to be a basis.
"I think we are open if anyone wants to lodge reports. Anyone who wants to lodge reports, they can do so but whether the report or complaint has a basis is another matter," he said.
She said this when asked about Kapar PKR members lodging a police report against Mahathir for saying that Malaysia did not want to treat Lynas "like a pariah" which, in turn, could spook investors.
While the term "pariah", which was originally used to refer to the lowest Indian caste, can be offensive, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said Mahathir use of the word was under a different context and not aimed at Indians.- Mkini
