Amanah to go all-out for PH victory in Tanjung Piai, says deputy president

PONTIAN: Amanah has started to mobilise its election machinery to ensure victory for Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Tanjung Piai parliamentary by-election.

Its deputy president Salahuddin Ayub said the party will give its highest commitment to ensure PH retains the seat on Nov 16.

He said he had discussed preparations for the by-election with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Johor PH chairman and PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin.

“We have also discussed our potential candidates. Amanah has no problems (with whoever is picked) and will work hard for PH’s victory,” Salahuddin, who is also the agriculture and agro-based industry minister, said after launching Fisheries Day 2019 at the Pontian Business Centre today.

The by-election is being held following the death of the incumbent, Md Farid Md Rafik, 42, who was also a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, on Sept 21 due to heart complications. - FMT
