Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said he respected the views of former PKR deputy president Syed Husin Ali, who had questioned if top Pakatan Harapan leaders have been made into "bonsai" by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
However, Mohamad (photo) declined to weigh in, beyond stating that it was Syed Husin's personal view.
"That is Syed Husin's opinion. I respect his opinion. I respect the opinion of veterans like him.
"I don't have a comment. It is a personal view," he told journalists at the Dewan Rakyat lobby today.
Syed Husin, a founding leader of PKR, had used the "bonsai" analogy in questioning whether the Harapan leaders had been stymied by Mahathir.
This is after he questioned, if they who had once challenged Mahathir, were now incapable of standing up to the prime minister when in government.
"The people are asking if Anwar Ibrahim, Muhyiddin Yassin, Mohamad Sabu and Lim Kit Siang have been stymied (dibonsaikan) by Mahathir?
"Will Mahathir, who has been proven to be a sly leader and skilled at twisting facts, be allowed to continue to deceive the people?
"We direct these questions to the Harapan presidential council. If political anarchy happens due to Mahathir's actions, they will be held responsible," Syd Husin said.
On a separate matter, Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, said the Amanah convention is now proceeding well after some hiccups.
He said the convention will be held in December, as planned. -Mkini
