IPOH: Former Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) chief executive officer Datuk Zahrah Abd Wahab Fenner and her son have been slapped with more corruption charges.
Zahrah, 60, was charged with two counts of abetment while Abdulazeez Wan Ruslan, 33, was charged with two counts of corruption at the Sessions Court here on Monday (Oct 7).
Both claimed trial after being read their charges separately before Sessions Court judge S. Indra Nehru.
According to the charges, Zahrah was said to have abetted with Abdulazeez, who had received a total of RM250,000 from one Samhan Adnan in the form of deposits at a bank in Menglembu here on May 18 and May 25 last year.

The money is said to be a fee to get Zahrah to approve an investment and finance internal memo of one Syarikat Ace Holdings Bhd on Apr 19,2018.

It was reported that Zahrah had claimed trial to 33 counts of corruption amounting to about RM5.7mil, while Abdulazeez claimed trial to four abetment charges amounting to RM160,000 last week.
During the proceedings, MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Wahida Jalaluddin said she had been instructed by her office to request for both cases to be transferred to the Sessions Court at Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur so they can be tried together with the other cases where both accused are also the defendants.
"As such, there will not be a recommendation for the bail amount," she said.- Star
