KUALA LUMPUR: The government of the day should reflect the country's diverse social setting, says PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (pic).
"Any government must represent the country's diverse society and it must be dominated by a Malay-Muslim majority," said Abdul Hadi.
He spoke briefly to reporters when met at the Parliament lobby on Wednesday (Oct 9).
Abdul Hadi was responding to a statement by Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan who had said that Pakatan Harapan should form a unity government with Barisan Nasional and PAS if Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was sincere about strengthening the position of Malays and Islam.
On Tuesday (Oct 8), Dr Mahathir said Pakatan had no interest in forming a unity government with the Opposition because the Cabinet is made up of ministers of various racial backgrounds, in line with Malaysia's social setting.- Star
