PETALING JAYA: Police are tracking down the writer of an note which appears to pit Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad against PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Stressing that the note was full of fake content, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said they were in the process of verifying the writer.
The four-paragraph note circulating in social media was attributed to a supreme council member of a party.
The writer of the note claimed that Anwar had enough support from MPs, but stopped short of suggesting he could take over the premiership.
The writer also falsely linked the recent investigations against certain DAP leaders to an alleged internal power tussle within Pakatan Harapan.
“This is slander,” said the IGP, warning against making provocative statements that could disrupt peace and order.
