NAJIB Razak will be heading to Bukit Aman tomorrow as a witness to assist police in its probe into a Facebook page that allegedly insulted the sultan of Selangor, said his lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.
Shafee said the former prime minister will have his statement recorded as “a witness” and he is not being investigated over his alleged defamatory statement against Teluk Intan Member of Parliament Nga Kor Ming.
“He’s going to go there (Bukit Aman) because he’s invited as a witness,” he said at a press conference today on the sidelines of the 1MDB trial.
Shafee said the police are not investigating Najib’s comments.
“No, no investigation, not yet. He’s required as a witness and nothing more,” he said.
Yesterday, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed said the matter has been conveyed to Najib.
The police will also call Nga to record his statement.
On September 29, a statement insulting Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was posted on Facebook via the “Nga Kor Ming Super Fans Page”, allegedly asking the Chinese to protest against a decree for bilingual road signs in Selangor to be removed.
Nga, however, denied that he and his party DAP were involved in making the posting and claimed it was a fake Facebook account.
Najib, however, had alleged on his own Facebook page that Nga was indeed behind the postings.
