‘ONLY BERSATU IS ISLAMIC-BASED IN PAKATAN’ – HADI RUSHES TO ‘CAPTAIN’ MAHATHIR’S DEFENCE – ‘IT’S NO SURPRISE SO MANY VOICES WANT HIM TO BACK OFF, STEP BY STEP’

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has likened the Pakatan Harapan as a chaotic ship with its passengers demanding to go to different destinations.

Although acknowledging that some are staying true to the course charted, he pointed out that it was hard for the captain to navigate the ship when others want to head toward different places.

Hadi said within the Harapan government there is only one Islamic-based party, Bersatu, which represents the largest demographic in Malaysia multi-racial society, and it is not a big component of the government.

“There are also other parties (within Harapan) based on pragmatic liberalism, capitalism and socialism which has resulted in a chaotic government. Even though everyone is on the same ship, some passengers want to head off in different directions while others sit there, directionless.

“It is no surprise when so many voices want the captain to back off, step by step,” he said without naming anyone. However, it was apparent that Hadi was referring to the leadership of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Hadi, who is Marang MP, said the end result is a rudderless Harapan administration.

“Even if the ship doesn’t sink and no one rocks the vessel, many things can happen along the way,” he said in an article published in PAS’ online paper Harakah Daily.

Hadi reminded all elected representatives that they were voted in to represent the people in this multi-racial society for the greater good of the nation and all ethnic groups.

“They should do some self-examination and ensure they act for all and not just for personal interest or a minority group,” he said.

Hadi urged Muslims to return to the unity of Islam and to uphold the faith.

“To non-Muslims, reject the extremist groups,” he added.
