KUALA LUMPUR: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is unperturbed by his deputy Mohamed Azmin Ali’s call for Dr Mahathir Mohamad to serve the full term as prime minister.
Anwar, who has been named by Pakatan Harapan to take over the top post from Mahathir, said Azmin’s comments were his personal opinion, adding that it was up to the coalition to decide on the choice of prime minister.
“In a parliamentary democracy, the decision is up to the ruling party. So I will leave it to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) council,” he said.
Yesterday, Azmin said replacing the prime minister mid-term would send the wrong signal to investors.
Azmin recently denied that he was hatching a plan with former defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein to stop Anwar from replacing Mahathir.
Anwar had said that the succession plan is in black and white, while PPBM leaders claim no timeline has been fixed. - FMT
