Zahid missed the bus on oil royalty - Amanah

Amanah Youth chief Mohd Sany Hamzah has scoffed at Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's promise to deliver oil royalty to Kelantan and Terengganu.

Mohd Sany (above) said it was Zahid's own BN-era government that denied the states oil royalty, something which the Pakatan Harapan government is now rectifying.

"Zahid's statement is like someone who has missed the bus. What he is talking about is already being done by the current Harapan government.

"The people are intelligent and matured. They won't just a corrupted and thieving leader that robs the people," he told Malaysiakini today.

Yesterday, Zahid (below) said if BN is returned to federal power, it will ensure that the PAS-led states receive their share of the oil royalty.

He also made a similar promise to other oil-producing states.

Sany said the BN era government had decades to do so but did not.

"It is only after they were punished by the people that they are trying to appease the people," he said.

On Oct 16, the PAS-led Terengganu government confirmed it had received the whole RM1.277 billion in oil royalty from the federal government.

However, the Kelantan government has yet to receive the full sum as the state and the federal government is still trying to resolve whether certain oil wells sit within state or federal government's jurisdiction. - Mkini
